SO HERE’S THE STORY…
I started getting texts from friends saying Durant had 70 points at the Rucker. Then I started seeing the tweets. It seemed like it would become a storm, so, I did what you see above…
Here are my reasons: 1.) I write jokes (or try to, at the least). I want to make you laugh. 2.) A big-time game at the Rucker is nice, but I prefer Durant at the World Championships last summer. I prefer Durant telling his teammates, after a Round 1 loss to the Lakers in 2010, “Next year starts now.” I learned more about KD in those moments than I would watching him on a playground, so I tweeted the tweet. Only the guys at HPBasketball retweeted it, and then so did UNDRCRWN.
Durant saw it, and now, he’s pissed at me. He called me a hater. The Scarlet H. That’s the cross I will carry for the rest of my life. All my dreams of hanging out with Kevin, trading baseball cards, eating mac & cheese…they’re all dead. Gone. If you check out my timeline, I groveled a bit to smooth things over. Offered Durant pancakes on me, blamed the good folks at UNDRCRWN instead of looking at the man in the mirror. So far, no response. I might as well be dead to Kevin Durant.
The moral of the story is, be careful of what you write, because one of your favorite basketball players might see it, and all of your hopes of eating breakfast foods with him will be dashed.
