That’s when I turned to the NBA.

I’m not going to act like I know more about basketball than you. Neither of us played professionally, so we’ll call it even. I have no access to games, and even less to players, but I think I can help you enjoy the sport.

The staff (just me) will work hard (more or less) to bring you the best basketball material (perhaps), so you keep coming back every day (why not?).

So sit back, or forward, depending on your current situation or seated preference, and enjoy the Internet ride.

“He talks, he says all this, but you know what: He doesn’t want...

“He talks, he says all this, but you know what: He doesn’t want the fight,” Pacquiao firmly told Yahoo! Sports in an exclusive interview. “I want the fight. I’m the one who has wanted this fight all along.”

Manny Pacquiao has wanted a fight with Floyd Mayweather dating all the way back to Floyd’s days in “retirement.” Then, last month, Manny mysteriously refused to sign the contract that would have booked the match he’s wanted for years. Now we know why:

From Kevin Iole:

“He offered me $40 million, and no pay-per-view [money],” Pacquiao said, breaking into a laugh. “No pay-per-view. Can you believe that? What would he say if I offered him $50 million – not $40 million, $50 million – and said ‘No pay-per-view. Take this money and be happy, but no pay-per-view.’ He wouldn’t do it, either.”

The fight, if it ever happens, would pit the two best fighters and the two biggest draws in the sport against one another. It would likely generate more than $160 million in pay-per-view revenue in the U.S. alone.

“I told him, ‘OK, 50-50 [with the money] and I’ll agree to everything else,’ ” Pacquiao said. “I told him I would agree to all of the other things he was demanding. Everything. Even the blood testing he wanted, I would do it. But it had to be 50-50.”

Pacquiao said he told Koncz to offer Mayweather a guarantee of $50 million with the rest of the revenue being split, with 55 percent going to the winner and 45 percent going to the loser.

One of the many unfortunate problems, and likely the deal-crusher, is that Floyd Mayweather believes he’s the sole reason a Mayweather vs. Pacquiao match-up would gain so much attention. He thinks he deserves more money.

Why won’t Floyd split the purse 50/50? Why won’t Floyd agree to give more money to the winner?

A short documentary on #LINSANITY.

After the New York Knicks beat the Los Angeles Lakers in the fifth game of the current Jeremy Lin-fueled Knicks’ winning streak, I left Madison Square Garden to a response I had never seen before. I began wondering what it must have been like when the Knicks routinely sold out MSG and went deep into the Playoffs.

As Lin added to his lore in Minnesota, and then Toronto, it became clear this story, this Jeremy Lin Event, was one sports fans might want to keep.

Above all else, I wanted to remember the feeling.

Filmed on February 15, 2012, at the Sacramento Kings vs. New York Knicks game. Jeremy Lin finished with 10 points on 4-6 shooting, 5 rebounds and a career-high 13 assists, as the Knicks won 100-85.

I hope you enjoy.

Last night, Jeremy Lin finished with 27 points, 11 assists, 2 rebounds, and a steal (with 8 turnovers, but SHUT UP, WHO CARES?!?!?), including the game-winning three point basket with 0.5 seconds left on the clock.

As described by Bruce Arthur of the National Post:

Lin had the ball at centre court with the shot clock turned off, and the crowd stood and roared like the ocean. Lin looked back at Knicks coach Mike D’Antoni. Was he asking if the coach wanted a timeout? “Actually, admitted Lin, grinning a little sheepishly, “I was asking if I could have an [isolation play].” It was his fifth career start. It was the definition of fearlessness. D’Antoni nodded.

This kid - the twice cut, one-time NBA D-Leaguer, and recent third-string point guard for the New York Knicks, - wanted to go one-on-one for the last shot of the game. Guts.

The Knicks have now won 6 straight games, coinciding with Jeremy Lin’s streak of amazing performances.

Part of me wishes the Linsanity would end, that Jeremy Lin would return to Earth, and just be a normal basketball player again. Why? For selfish reasons. It would let me believe I too could be great, even if just for a moment. But alas, it appears Jeremy Lin is just good at basketball.

No matter how this story wraps up, no one will ever be able to take these two weeks from Jeremy Lin. Or from any of us basketball fans. I feel extremely comfortable, like “sitting a man-sized pile of goose feathers” comfortable, in saying the NBA will never, ever see anything like this again. Enjoy it.

“I would say it’s a miracle just because anytime something like this happens, a lot of stuff has to be put into place, and a lot of it is out of my control,” said Lin, 23, before the game. “If you look back at my story, it doesn’t matter where you look, but God’s fingerprints are all over the place, where there’s been a lot of things that had to happen that I just couldn’t control. And you could try to call it coincidence, but at the end of the day there’s 20, 30 things, when you combine them all, that had to happen at the right time for me to be here. So that’s why I call it a miracle.”

I don’t know anything about God, but I know this whole Jeremy Lin thing kinda makes me want to believe.

Tyson Chandler told reporters:

“I played with some big stars in this league, and it’s all Jeremy Lin questions. But I love it, because he’s an incredible guy. He’s one of the best. You can’t help but love him, and hope the best for him.” When asked if he had ever seen anything like this, Chandler grinned and said, “I don’t think anyone has.”

Ditto.

I don’t even know what to say. I can’t keep up with this kid.

Jeremy Lin hits a 3-pointer with .5 seconds left to beat the Toronto Raptors. He is Half Man, Half Am-Asian. All he has to do now is kill Carmelo Anthony, and he’ll be the greatest Knick of All-Time.
